Kudos to Tom Kitt (music) and Brian Yorkey (book and lyrics) for bringing such a sensitive subject out of the dark ages, in Next to Normal putting it on stage and rocking it!
Thanks to Randall Kramer (Artistic/Executive Director, and Director of the play) for making a bold move and bringing such a controversial subject to the stage in Western New York.
Under the skillful direction of Theresa Quinn (Musical Director) cast and musicians became one in displaying a passion for subject matter and the music.
Michael Oliver-Walline (choreographer) focused on the individual strengths of each performer. Movements were natural which allowed the actors to focus on their character.
Dyan Burlingame (set designer) chose a black stage which invoked feelings of darkness, seriousness and added to the mystery of the illnesses. Basically the set was made up of cubicles with what appear to be iron railings. The set has a very cold appearance. Totally appropriate.
Chris Cavanagh (light, projection & sound designer) chose a purple backdrop which helpd to diffuse the mysterious atmosphere of the blue lights on the stage.
Kari Drozd (costume designer) numerous and choices were character appropriate.
Susan Drozd (hair, wig & makeup design) did an excellent job.
Kevin Fahey (properties) imaginative and appropriate.
