Camp Broadway LLC, the award-winning theatre arts enrichment company, will perform Irving Berlin’s “This Is A Great Country” in the 91st Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade featuring an ensemble cast of children ages 9 to 16 who represent immediate family members of active duty military personnel, veterans, reservists, wounded warriors, and fallen heroes from all branches of the United States Armed Forces. After a round of video auditions, 128 children from 104 cities located throughout the United States were selected to perform in the parade, including four children from Western New York.
Lily Brannon (East Aurora), Kaitlyn Morris (Orchard Park), Pearl Sciolino-Coffey (Grand Island), and Sarah Touris (Hamburg) will be spending the week of Thanksgiving in New York City rehearsing under the direction of choreographer/actor/writer Brad Bradley (Annie Get Your Gun, Spamalot, and Billy Elliot the Musical). On Thanksgiving Day, they will march in the two and a half mile parade, performing for 3.5 million live spectators and more than 50 million viewers. This is Camp Broadway’s 10th appearance in the iconic parade, which also includes giant character balloons, floats, marching bands, celebrities, and clowns.
Shea’s Performing Arts Center has hosted Camp Broadway’s Mainstage summer camp geared toward children ages 10 to 17 for the past 17 years. This past summer, they presented a new program, Camp Broadway’s The Next Step, which offers individual character development for teens ages 14 to 17 with previous performance experience.
