O’Connell and Company finds dreams In the Woods

Into The Woods is an adult fairy tale that takes familiar characters from Grimm’s fairy tales -Cinderella, Jack, and Little Red Riding Hood, each with a wish, a dream or a need – on a journey into the woods to find a specific object. Where they learn the necessity of community and the fact that dreams may come true but they are not free.

The first act deals with the wish, while the second deals with the repercussions.

Although the show’s style and structure is that of a musical, it blends elements of operetta legit singing which is rooted in classical vocal training.

Voices with chiaroscuro fullness.

Terri Filips Vaughan (Director-Choreographer) assisted by Jeremy Vicario chose a tiered stage featuring various levels with multiple platforms of different heights. His direction included multi focus with performers utilizing the aisle.

Kyler Sterner (Scenic Designer) created a realistic and appealing replica of the Woods. Along with the choreography, the lighting designs of Jay Marks (lighting designer) added to the mystique of the journey.

Timmy Goodman (Costume Designer) Edith Head, (Costume Designer) designed for Paramount and Universal films between 1949 and 1973, was one of the greatest and most influential costume designer in film history, winner of eight academy awards for Best Costume design she would have been proud, amazing work.

The cast was delightful, whimsical and extremely energetic. A joy to watch and especially to hear.

What would a musical be without the expertise of a great orchestra.
