Book by Roger O Hirson, Music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz
Musicals of today unfortunately don’t seem to have the flair of the musicals from the past.
They don’t seen to display the elegance and sophistication possessed by the early musicals of the 50’s. A good example would be the 1954 film White Christmas starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen. Well the only musical that I’ve seen in a long time that comes even close to that era is on stage for one more weekend at O’Connell and Company.
Connor Hesch is a perfect match for Pippin, with his calm demeanor and beautiful tenor voice he’s supported by a superb cast.
Timmy Goodman’s costumes were phenomenal, just phenomenal.
Joey Bucheker (director/ choreographer) chose dancers of different heights, ages, sizes and ethnicity. Along with his assistant choreographers Audrianna Yates and Emily Weber, they made sure that each of them shined. There was several different styles of dance at least four different types of burlesque.
Thank you BoB Fosse for your powerful choreographed “Manson trio.” What musical would be complete without a chorus line.
Ruben Julius Schwartz (Scenic Designer) chose a multi-tiered stage Dressed by Jesse Miller (Scenic artist) Jay Marks lighting designs.
Thanks Jacob Fleur (stage manager) you had your hands full but you held it all together.
Pippin is on stage to April 6.. 2-hour run time with the 15 minute intermission
